Maria Jones, Ph.D.

Maria received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with honors from Spelman College in 2011. During her first year at Emory University, she was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and regularly provide guidance to those applying for the award each year as a NSF Ambassador. She is broadly interested in the intersection between the development of race, space, and memory. Specifically, she is interested in determining the mechanism by which children learn and process implicit racial bias and the ways in which this interacts with the development of spatial perception and memory abilities. After uncovering much about this research topic, Maria graduated with her Ph.D. this past Spring, 2019.
