Statistical Power

This tutorial is designed to help you understand statistical power and its importance in hypothesis testing. The tutorial begins with a review of types of error. It is followed by an explanation of statistical power and demonstrations of the factors that influence statistical power. Once you understand statistical power, you should test your knowledge by doing the practice exercises.

This tutorial assumes that you understand the concepts of population, probability, and error as well as the process involved in testing hypotheses.

Students enrolled in PSYC230 - Applied Statistics for Psychology - who wish to receive extra credit for doing the tutorial should take the quiz posted on the Blackboard at Emory class site.
