Calculations: Sums of Squares for Factor A

This value is the foundation of our estimate of the main effect for Factor A. Remember that when we calculate main effects, we combine the data across the levels of the "other" factor.

Formula

Using the sums from the design table, set up the equation.

Proceed with the calculations.

Our next step is to calculate the sums of squares for the main effect for Factor B (Time of Test).
