Research Interests
Past and continuing research on the developing sense of self in the first months of life, the emergence of symbolic functioning beyond nine months as well as the development of selective imitation in late infancy. We are now starting two new projects. One is on the early development of face recognition and categorization. The other is on a cross-cultural approach to the developing sense of entitlement, ownership, sharing, and negotiation in the preschool years. We are particularly interested in the impact of the child’s cultural environment on the expression of such development and the extent to which this development relates to emerging theories of mind.
