Dr. Freides is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He received his B.A. in Psychology at the University of Illinois in 1949,
followed by his M.A. at Teachers College, Columbia University in 1951, and his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1956. He has
been with Emory since 1966. Prior to his coming to Emory, he worked at Lafayette Clinic in Detroit, the psychiatric hospital
of the Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he was chief psychologist of the Children's and Adolescents' Services.
He plans to retire at the end of August 2007 and is therefore not taking new graduate students.
