Dr. Bliwise received her B.A. in Psychology from Cleveland State University in 1975 and her Ph.D. from
the Committee on Human Development at the University of Chicago in 1982. She did a post-doctoral
fellowship in aging and mental health at the Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute from 1982-1984 and
joined the faculty in the Human Development and Aging Program at the University of California, San
Francisco in 1984. She was an associate professor of psychology at the Pacific Graduate School of
Psychology in Palo Alto, California and a professor of psychology at the Georgia School of Professional
Psychology before joining the faculty in the Department of Psychology at Emory in 2000.
